Esther: The Sovereignty of God
The time is between 5th and first half of the 4th Century BC. The place is set within the Persian Empire in the heart of the Middle East. The characters are focused around Xerxes, Esther, Haman and Mordecai. What does this Book have to do with us today?
Though God is not mentioned once, Esther is an amazing narrative of God’s sovereignty as His fingerprints are seen all over the text. The Book is full of great reversals as God keeps His promises to His people.
The Book of Esther is an invitation to look into the story of God. Not only to look, but to participate and see where we are in the story. Since God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, we’re challenged to look for God as a community of believers in our current space and time.
